There is a lot of misogyny and sophmoric "humor" which was 100% a choice this writer made. There was NO reason to include any of it, in his world that he created. Though I am also confused as to what kind of setting this is. It seems to be an alternate world of ours? But then also has elements of being a completely different world, and mashes up French and British words/slang? I might DNF this book.

"A mouth like a she devil on the rag" WTF. He makes the main character call the love interest a bitch. And has her make sexist misogynistic comments as well. She also comes across as years older than her, at most 18 years, considering Gabe is 15 at this point and she only a few years older. Misogynistic men writing women = make her a bitch that says horribly misogynistic things about other women 🙄

So much juvenile misogyny. There is misogyny and slut shamming almost every other page. It's also very evident this writer is stuck in the glory days of his teenage years. And he's ripped off Witcher, Interview with the Vampire, and of course Game of Thrones, and just blatantly rewrote Christianity. He also tries too hard to make Gabriel a badass antihero.
