This is a simply written book about the author’s experiences in WWII as one of America’s first Army Rangers. Humble and heartbreaking, it describes the decimation of the 1st and 3rd Ranger battalions at Cisterna, the author’s capture and imprisonment as a POW, and his eventual escape and flight through occupied territory. While I never met him, he shares a most important title among my family: Grandfather.
