I had to put it down for a while. The ongoing de facto inequality and continuing racism in the Deep South he writes about are very depressing. Can't we ever get past our past. I will finish but I hope the remainder of the book is more hopeful. From today's perspective hate is contagious from White to Black and Black to Asian, etc.
