Wow, that's some author's note at the end of the first story! Now, on to re-read "The Birthmark." Again. I picked one of its standalone publications to count as my "haven't read since high school" book. Well, the online edition I picked had been abridged to 3 pages, and judging by the reading comprehension quiz on page 4, it was for a middle school readership.

Gotta say, a literal skeleton in the closet bodes well for the direction of the story! This first one is "Dr. Heidegger's Experiment," which I've never read before.
