Oh and for a monster book that has a story, a plot … this has the first scene , not even a full scene at 63%. It really has a story if you’re looking for that in a monster one! the author was a therapist and her writing of trauma is pretty real. It may not be your thing if you don’t like monsters but if the lack of story threw you off then this series has it.

Compared to some of the newer monster authors coming out, this just reminds me how much a nice developed and great written story can be made with not so popular monsters. A nice return to perished woods and a surly troll who is really a cinnamon roll.
