Step 2 of the GPS method is to compile a master list of your goals. Utilizing others to highlight things you forgot to think about. These are your “blind spots”. It’s okay to bounce ideas off of others, and compile a master list of your goals for an important decision. For example, when moving, what is it that is important for you? Lifestyle? Proximity to work? Good area? Etc.

Learned Step 3 of the GPS exercise. How to prioritize your goals. In the context of retirement, you may have a large list of 15 retirement goals. Break it down, start with most and least important to you. Then chunk the rest into buckets of high, moderate, and least importance. Apply “budget constraints” with just a couple as high importance. Not everything can be highly important.
