I enjoyed The Book of Lost Names but I have not been able to get into this one. The writing style seems very simplistic and I’m having trouble liking the characters (the elder woman’s raises a child but never teaches her wilderness skills and sees her as a ‘messiah’ of sorts but doesn’t seem to teach or give love). How would one save others through empathy without knowing love?
