Officially started reading War and Peace. First reading ever as well.
I seem to already be re- reading what I have already read. I really like the introduction of Princess Bolkonskaya. I almost felt like I was in her presence.
Starting to see why Tolstoy was such a profound writer. I am only several pages in and I feel like I am a guest at the reception.

I really like these discussions between characters. The flow of the conversations moves you along very nicely. The descriptions of each person is gives you just enough, not too much, keeps you interested as you go.
The old bachelor Shinshin is an interesting character to me, I can completely picture him on the couch smoking his pipe.
