I note that the professor blamed the shutdown of the USDA Office of Civil Rights on President Reagan. That was misleading. Government budgets are political documents. The President (regardless of who it is) submits a budget to an opposing Congress with the certainty that it will be tossed in the trash. The Congress then submits the real budget. In 1983 that was a Democrat Congress. They could have saved the USDA OCR.

Most of what they professor is saying is correct or a reasonable interpretation. But here are there she says things that imply something else. For example, she talks about "dog whistle" phrases that tell whites that a politician is talking about black people without realizing that she is calling white people "dogs". When one is complaining about subtle insults one should not make a subtle insult back.

Again, the professor is misleading her students. Indeed, President Johnson signed into legislation many things that helped minorities, but only against the wishes of the Democrat Party including Al Gore Sr. To their credit, the Democrats cleared out most of the racists in their party who then became "Dixiecrats." I am wondering if the professor will mention that.

The professor praises President Johnson for promoting civil rights and doing all the good things that he did. (He did do them.) However she fails to mention when Senator Johnson watered down the Civil Rights Act of 1957 removing voter protection rights. I assume it was because Democrats wouldn't get the credit. He signed the Voting Rights Act in 1965. He could have cosigned the legislation 8 years earlier.
