I'm struggling a bit.
While the first book has some great social sci fi thought experiments woven into a (paper-thin) there-and-back-again story, this one doubles down on the exploration of social sci fi thought experiment, and removes the story.
It posits some really interesting scenarios and has some great ideas included in a well developed universe, but I really want a bigger foreground story.
