If I took a shot every time shengold interjected unnecessarily with dashed emphases and/or italicized fragments in parentheses, I would be dead.
If I took a shot every time shengold wrote a half-page long footnote that could have easily been included as a paragraph within the original text, I would be dead.
If I took a shot every time shengold said "anal excitement" I would be delightfully buzzed but still upset.

"Striving to hold onto what and who one has been and what and whom one has had and has been with can be positive and adaptive and even heroic--but in the long run doomed"
This fucking sentence kills me, especially because it was preceded by a sufficiently coherent and far more insightful sentence stating essentially THE EXACT SAME THING BUT IN BETTER WORDS.

I want to be done with this book so bad
