A good, comprehensive explanation of the SNES-CD deals and what happened. It was crazier than I ever knew.

Now I understand a whole lot more about the SNES marketing I was exposed to as a kid and how thing changed near the end of the of the system's lifespan

3D graphics - the area in which I was starting to become more techonologically aware. I remember this period well.

Now I understand why Genesis had better arcade ports (same chips as the arcade machines), but also why SNES's controller was so amazing. (And introduced things like shoulder buttons that persist to this day)

Onto the specs....

If you're interested in this period of Nintendo history, it's definitely worth getting past the academic style of writing. I'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would.

I had no idea the NEC PC-Engine was a team-up with Hudson. Or that it had a CD-ROM! I thought that was only for the post-SNES/Genesis world.

It's got a bit more of a college paper feel than a simple narrative, but I'm excited about the premise: going against the usual grain of Nintendo praise.
