The first book is definitely 3 stars. Really has all the emotional depth and subtlety of a CBS crime drama. The last two chapters and an epilogue could all have been an epilogue. Or just not there. And I hate when people do box sets and don't delete the beginning and end matter between books. It's so lazy.

It seems like so far in this second book, the people in peril have pretty much saved themselves and our "hero" and his friends just show up in time to give them a ride.
