I can understand why some reviews say it was so old fashioned; the verbiage was old, calling a disabled person "invalid", and some aspects of the story are dated, some of the male characters view the main character has a dainty little girl and are surprised she's even female on a ranch. Some bits are charming though, I'm still reading.
