Very conservative and assimilationist so far. I also dislike the author’s portrayal of Gaetan Dugas as some type of villain. He wasn’t patient zero. That was a misinterpretation of a report that said “Patient O” as in Out of California. This book did a lot of harm to his family and friends and he was just trying to live his life like a lot of other queer people at the time.
