Can authors make a landslide election campaign interesting? Of course they can. The Tories were doomed almost from the very beginning of their mandate, and Labour perhaps didn’t need to triangulate to win. Again voters appeared to ignore economic factors when casting their ballot; most indicators were better than in ‘92. They wanted a change of government, but not a change in direction. This is good so far.
