Appreciate the alternative viewpoint provided from Bruno's recount of his grandparents. However, am not quite sure of what Boyne was trying to achieve in the last para of this chapter - chapter 8. Could someone kindly enlighten me?

Chapter 7 definitely achieved the effect it aims to achieve. The use of perspective, dramatic irony etc all contributed to creating the effect of sympathy. Pavel, is made all the more intriguing through the use of perspective. Great chapter.
