finished the third book. on one hand, I'm glad for the tonal shift to a less silly narrative and fewer anachronism but I still don't see what makes this book such a monument of fantasy literature

well! that got pretty dark pretty fast. almost made long for the knights playing dress up in monster costume. now: onward to the last book of the omnibus

finished the second book. the writing is more accessible but the story a little haphazard. the bits with the questing beast were funny but pulled focus from the main narrative.

finished the first book of this omnibus. this wasn't quite the book I was expecting. the analogies/animals parts were kind of cool but the dialogues written phonetically were a pain to decipher.
