Wendell Berry focust te vaak op het individuele, wat raar is want hij klaagt ook heel hard het systeem aan? Hoe kan je stellen dat het kapitaal altijd natuur zal kapotmaken, maar dan toch pleiten voor 'ethischer' consumeren? Niet iedereen heeft die optie, tenzij je manifest enkel voor de hoge middenklasse is.
