The introduction suggests the new books are placed in their logical order among the books universally recognized as canon. Then instead proceeds to 1. start with a prayer that isn't a 'gospel' Then 2. segues to "Gospel of Thomas" which isn't a narrative of Jesus Life, but a maybe orderly list of things he taught. Both of these seem to belong in "writings" which should include letters, prayer, and teachings.
