This novella reminded me strongly of Turgenev's "First Love". However, the coming of age of this boy Petr' Andréjïtsch is rather more pleasing, as the boy turns into a man before the reader's eyes. Pleasing, a little old fashioned, but definitely worth reading. Interesting insight into Russian history in a fictional account.
