I would say that Stanley definitely embodies someone who is a true foodie and loves to eat good meals. Though while he does say he’s not pretentious I can’t help but think his writing is a bit more so than the average person.

His liberal views come to light in chapter 5, he pretends that he doesn’t realize the Covid shut downs closed his favorite Cuban Chinese restaurant. Otherwise still good and interesting.
