The development of the main character, Darrow, is another aspect I enjoy of the book. Often, when a fictional book develops a tragic story for its main character it usually feels synthetic, however, in the case of Darrow the author makes his development human. The pain he feels and how he process is complex, but not overly so. And the major events are perceived in a realistic and authentic manner.

As with my previous posts, I have talked about the unique language and syntax used, and the deep story elements that the author uses to tell a deeper message. Yet, a major aspect of this book that I truly appreciate the most is its ability to entice and immerse the reader into its story. It is able to maintain a story of complexity without losing the reader with too many details, and overall it is a creative story.

The society that the author tells is one of despotism; where the lower class, the Reds, are manipulated and oppressed by the highest class the Golds. But, what is interesting is the seemingly unlimited intellect and strength the Golds have, yet their inability to create an equal society. The author, I believe, is conveying the idea of man's incapability of solving their innate underlying flaws.

So far the book has been a change from my usual literature and to say simply, has been a 'breath of fresh air.' I love the language and imagery the author uses to provide an immersive experience of what he is telling. Along with language, I am already in love with the depth of the main character, Darrow, and the dynamic and intriguing plot that has been established.
