Interesting that vampirism is kind of portrayed as a sickness here... and that the way of consuming blood is not by drinking it, but by bathing in it. The vampire still retains its hypnotic abilities - I wonder where this particular vampire image is coming from!

Descriptions of the battle and Daniel's cool sword take up most of the story right now and it's getting a little exhausting but at LEAST Daniel killed the giant now.

Daniel still just wants to kill the gosh darn giant tbfh... but apart from that, I LOVE how the book creates a new twist on the genre of courtly novels! Whereas before the heros had to prevail with just a sword against a supernatural enemy - Daniel outSMARTS his enemies with his wit and trickery! Really enjoying this.
