Reread ! Forgot how weird and lovely this book is.

… how could you form a stable regime this way? Wouldn’t it destroy the reliability of the calendar and all it’s associated technology?

This is some of the best world-building I’ve seen, but it’s also not an easy read. Worth it, though, from what I’ve seen so far. I’m going to take my time with this and appreciate the efficiency and the art of this writing

Wow, ok. Chapter 1. We’re in a military battling heretics using formations and geometry and angles, all dependent on the following of a high calendar (the hexarcate’s, not a heretic calendar obvi) and weather is deadly and light can slice flesh. Cool, cool, got it.
