The best part about Ricoeur is that he grew fond of owls due to Hegel's "owl of Minerva" line. In old age, he'd acquired a large collection of owl statues. When his grandkids would visit, he'd pretend that he liked to eat the statues and go on about how tasty they are.

This, to me, is the sign of a well adjusted philosopher. (The hermeneutics is also good, I guess.)
