Characters all feel like little facsimiles of people. Flat paper cut outs. Yeesh.

One of the characters called out American paranoia but lampshading just doesn't do the trick.

You'd think I'd learn to stop picking up books at random. Thought this would be some kind of alternate history book. It's not. That was a wild first few chapters.
