A person can only see thestrals if they’ve seen a person die. Since Harry saw Cedric’s death, he is now able to see the “completely fleshless” horses with “black coats clinging to their skeletons” (Rowling 197). However, at the end of the last book, Harry still described the carriages as being driven by invisible forces. This shows one of the few continuity errors that was written.

It’s interesting to me how the Ministry takes Voldemort’s reappearance and denies it. His downfall only happened 14 years prior, so wouldn’t there still be safety measures that could be quickly implemented in case of his return? I see how many wouldn’t want to believe he’d return, but there had to be some apocalypse preparation type wizards that would prepare.
