No, no, NO! Why do romance writers DO this? Garran has been kind, courtesy, and patient with Sarah, but as soon as she says she doesn't think she could love him his answer is to (threaten to) rape her! WTF? How is that going to solve anything? Sarah has never denied her hormones make her tingly around him, but even if her body wants him she's saying no and he should listen to THAT part.

I should not have to be "glad" that events conspired to keep the lead male from raping his wife.
I wish the last third of what I read had been cut completely. Manufactured drama because of a stupid untruth to protect a secret everyone knows makes no sense AND is boring. If he'd told her this beforehand she'd have had no trouble loving him and wouldn't want to leave. Problem solved!

[continued] I hate this narrative that romance writers set up that it's okay for men to force [their virgin] women even if they say no, and that the "silly little women" clearly don't know their own minds because they're all "no, no... Yes, yes!" with a few kisses and some unwanted groping.
I'm sure some men are like that, but none in my life and they'd get a slap from me if they tried it!

I also bet the "big secret" is that the peace loving, space hippy Gaians didn't destroy any Earth ships during the war and instead somehow disabled them and transported (and/ or recruited) the people where they couldn't make trouble.

Eh. It's written okay but I'm not really feeling this. I don't get how the Gaians are all okay with basing a life long relationship on "magical pheromone" matches without knowing each other at all, yet Garran refuses to tell Sarah the "big secret" that will change her entire opinion of him because if she can't see him without it then they aren't meant to be. How does that even make sense? o_O
