This narrator is so unreliable, but damn is she relatable here.

This book has taken a turn. I was in the narrator’s back pocket until… oh hell, I’m still in her pocket. I’m snug in the pocket of her sensible linen capris, smelling her delicious dishes and thinking she’s more than a little dangerous. Call me a willing captive (snicker snicker) and don’t call me an Uber.

The academic world is on full frontal display here. Forgot about its pitfalls, deep and wide. Also littered with snakes and scorpions with vastly different teaching methods. I was more the candy-and-Coppola kind of professor. Swinging on my vine to teach through entertainment.

Is it a shame my heart stumped these plans? All these roads have led me back to my own pen. Like Vladimir’s narrator. Reading on!

Reading, rereading. Savoring. It’s so nice to read about howling, brilliant, angry and inspired women. (living as opposed to dying, as in Chopin’s Awakening)

As the Washington Post reviews promise, this narrator is amazing, and a “work of art in herself.”

“What did I want with a husband who wanted my attention?” Her inner dialogue is deftly stated, matter of fact, and often stuns!

And every time the full name Vladimir Vladinski comes up, I laugh. So far. We’ll see how heavy/serious this gets.
