Gaddis "eventually did read Benjamin's essay and jokes that he would 'certainly have been pilloried for plagiary' had he ever completed [Agape Agape], which became...'a casualty of overresearch'".

"Overresearch" then is another thing Gaddis and Benjamin have in have in common -- the former re: player pianos, the latter re: the Arcades.
