What moves a person to reach out to our podcast asking whether I could review a certain book on GoodReads because she doesn't want to pay for our exclusive content and prefers reading anyway? Who seriously thinks I would be thrilled about this?? These are the same people who go online to wax poetic about the value of culture and journalism... *sigh* Support your quality journalism, guys! Likes don't pay bills.

I’m a bookseller/buyer in a large bookstore. How about an author who wants me to buy a pile of their self published ugly looking, dreadfully written book with no discount?!? Are these people living in the real world🫤

These are the same people who ask us to discuss their "books" on our show, and I'm always stunned how they don't even consider the fact that we might tear their poorly written self-published oeuvre into a thousand pieces if we actually presented it (which we don't). The latest trend is that some of them - fully unknown, yet unpublished people - ask to be on our show to talk about their stuff as free advertisement - as if. *facepalm*
I own a bookshop. Right now I have a friend who is waxing poetic about libraries. Libraries are great but sometimes buy a book, support a bookshop, a publisher, an author.
