Creatively and intellectually dazzling. Shame about the racist remarks, unnecessary and surprising.

Knowing Clive James' academic reputation I approached this book a little warily. But there was no need. The literary, artistic and musical references are all part of the overall satire. Any that aren't understood can either be researched - if you're really desperate enough - or simply enjoyed as part of the flow of sharply observed humour in the worlds of media and publishing.
