You could probably get better at it. I sometimes zone out with audio too and have to do it in small chunks and it’s better if I close my eyes. My brain prefers to use my eyes too so if they are open it will start looking for distractions. Like right this moment I have an audiobook playing but instead am scrolling on goodreads 🤣. Bad brain.

Tawfek, my husband does that! It helps him follow some of the crazy sci-fi stuff he watches. No shame in using tech, closed captioning works for anyone. Plus it often tells you what song is playing in the background so win/win.

That's pretty common. I was that way at first, but then I got some really good ones with Sebastian York narrating and holy fuck my panties literally melted off my body. It was crazy! Even though he's sexy, he doesn't do it for everyone. I like that I can listen while I'm at work.

I do audiobooks in the car and almost always do a mystery or thriller type book. Freida McFadden books are amazing audio! Sometimes I will listen with my EarPods while I chart (I’m a night shift nurse). But I would totally zone out at home. I up the speed to 1.25 which seems normal.

I feel this so much! I recently started listening to audiobooks while simultaneously playing a really mindless game on my phone, my fave is a colouring app that requires zero brain power except to make a pretty picture lmao - it helps so much to focus on what's going on with the audio because my brain gets something else to do at the same time! If you're super visual, this could be something you try to help 🥰

I will definitely try that! Sometimes I can listen to audiobooks while doing little cleaning tasks, but I just gotta get better at it.

I swear I can't understand it when theres no subtitles! English is my only language too so I should not have problems lol

YES THIS! Most of the time I can't stand the narrators voice because they speak slow or they don't have enough energy.
