I cannot stress enough how relevant this book is to today's world. Booker T. Washington fought hard to teach people not to depend on government to sustain you, but to allow your work to speak for itself whether you are black, white, or Indian. Racism is spread by the uneducated and sustained by those who can't stop using it as an excuse for failure. Great book!

I could not imagine a book being more relevant to people today. Contrary to what you might think, Booker T. Washington held no resentment towards white people even though he was a slave himself. A strong emphasis on hard work and personal achievement from a Christian perspective is evident in this book. Highly recommend. This should be required reading for highschool
