This book is so dismal lol I can’t wait to finish it and watch the movie. It’s so dark!

This book is more horrible than I recall. Every other page this girl is called “ugly” or “displeasing” or “homely” “poor little thin sallow ugly Mary” lol when does this get good? I feel as though it’s dragging !

I haven’t read this book since childhood but the entire first few chapters are just people telling Mary she’s ugly and has a sour personality haha
