-dr Jordan gets a letter from dr bannerling saying that he thinks grace was faking insanity ( he watched her for years) and not to be fooled by her
- he meets with a reverend & they talk about graces case how she presented 3 dif stories on what happened 1. At inquest 2. Trial 3. After her death sentence commuted. But kept the same denial of touching of Nancy Montgomery.
Denying the memory of it: hence why dr Jordan is there
- their aunt Pauline paid for their fam passage to americas, her dad a drunk,

- get to Canada (Toronto) , they stay in mrs burt (widow after her kid and husb died) house as boarders with their dad.
- begins to hate her dad here, he played on the windows emotion (behind on rent) (still going to bars, sold all their mothers things)

- she gets hired as help at mrs Parkinson’s house, and leaves her siblings behind.

- explains to dr Jordan who people she worked with (parkison house) staff are, Mary Whitney etc.
- her dad and sibs left without paying rent out west and she hasn’t heard from them since
- after Mary died she leaves the Parkinson’s; bounced between places,

-Simon travels to the kineer house & Mary’s grave
- admits he wants to marry grace (in his thoughts)
- he sends his landlady lover to get meds and leaves on a train (her husb coming back home)
- landlady keeps writing Simon who does go to Europe, drs mom writes back basically to say stop
