This is slow going, at least in part because the original lectures upon which this book is based were first given before World War I, and Balfour's diction and writing style lean far more toward the conventions of the 19th century than the 20th. Even so, I see many ideas and arguments that would show up later in C.S. Lewis' books and lectures about Christianity.
