Malala explains how their family had to keep their pet rabbit outside and it was killed by a cat one night. I was taken aback when Malala's younger brother cried and exclaimed, "I will kill [the cat]" (175). It shocks me that a child so young would already have violent feelings, but it makes sense because violence is all they have grown up with, which is very unfortunate.

I found it interesting how Malala discusses the complexity of the Arabic language and how this has been used to exploit the ignorance of people’s language when interpreting the Quran. It goes back to the theme of the book and the importance of education.
