One shocking part was when Karl said he wasn't a Jew while being bullied. Gertz and the wolf pack physically and verbally abused him about being Jewish and circumcised. He pulled down his pants to see that he was circumcised. Instead of admitting he's Jewish, he said "Im not Jewish I've never been to a synagogue"(8-9). This is shocking because even if you don't go to synagogue you still are considered Jewish.

A part of the book that was disappointing was when Karl said he didn't want to do boxing anymore. His mom told him to keep going even if he might quit. "Try to keep up you're training" (359) He proceeded to say he would even though he was doubting himself. Karl has been working so hard for a pretty long time. Seeing him quit randomly would be pretty sad. He made it so far so that's why it was sad

One shocking part was when Karl defended himself and Greta against Her Koplec. "So I lunched forward and gave him a quick shove, which sent him tumbling to the ground" (216). This is shocking because he is a shy kid and doesn't usually defend himself. The times in the past when he was bullied, he just let it happen. However, now he is fighting back.

One disappointing part was when the Wolf Pack urinated in the toilet, once it was nearly full they put Karl's' head into it. They dunked his head under and flushed the toilet. There was some new kids wanting to join the wolf pack so this was their "initiation" . This was there way of baptizing a Jew. "They maneuvered me to the stall." "Time for your baptism." The things the Wolf Pack do, because someone is Jewish.
