Also, I know this book was published post Covid but my curiosity still remains

**I want to preface this by saying I do not condone the actions taken by humans in this book** I wish I had read this pre-Covid because I feel like I’d be outraged at that time, but having lived through COVID I completely understand how this unfortunate story could happen. I’d love to be able to compare my pre and post reactions tbh
