the secret history is babel but 200% more pretentious. like in babel they use big words because it makes sense. in secret history it's like the author is trying to say "guys this character is really smart I promise"

she's trying to set up a mood I can tell with like descriptions of old book smells and academia aesthetics but then the mc is from california... i don't believe.
