It really bugs me not being able to do that today; but what scares me the most is not knowing if this is something temporary or permanent, because with GlitchReads, you NEVER know O.o
You go to every friend's page after you finish a book? That explains how you find my super-secret books. :DMost likely temporary, I think. But you're right, you never know with this site.
Marquise wrote: "You go to every friend's page after you finish a book? That explains how you find my super-secret books. :DYup, always do :) . It takes me quite a while sometimes, especially with bestsellers! For example today no friend of mine has read Percy Jackson, when only yesterday more than a thousand did. Go figure O.o
inciminci wrote: "🤦🏻♀️ there's something wrong with GR right now, keeps on crashing."Yes, the last few weeks has been acting so weird. Lately endlessly loading a page only to show error or page not available, the site and app keeps crashing (together or separately!), yesterday or before kept logging me out, sometimes doesn't allow liking or commenting without refreshing first, today not displaying friends reviews and ratings, dunno if something more? The glitch list keeps growing over time I forget everything that's wrong O.o

All of this happened to me too!
inciminci wrote: "All of this happened to me too! ..."It's crazy!. Oh I forgot the reviews disappearing! That hasn't happened to me yet (that I know of), but so many of my friends did suffer that. Sadly doubt we have seen the end of it :/
I was wondering why a certain book was disappearing from my challenges, I had read it and tagges it for that challenge, but it wouldn't count. I today saw that they deleted the "read" date... Yes no end, Fede! Good to rant though 😅
inciminci wrote: "I was wondering why a certain book was disappearing from my challenges, I had read it and tagges it for that challenge, but it wouldn't count. I today saw that they deleted the "read" date... Yes n..."Oh yeah! Forgot about that one lol! If you 'search' that book in your 'read' list it's probably duplicated. GR creates a duplicate without the read date and with the original review, but without its original comments and likes. GR then leaves the original review empty without the review, and lastly updates your feed automatically like if you had just read it today, even if you did like years before. I've seen that happen with 'The Guest List' by Lucy Foley, and a few other books I can't recall right now. That's the most innovative and multifaceted glitch of all I think O.o
I have checked my duplicates and you knew it - two duplicates the one is the book I'm talking about and the other one is The Guest List 🤣
I was so confused about seeing this on every book now too! Glitchreads is acting up again. Not even surprised at this point lol.
Hanna wrote: "I was so confused about seeing this on every book now too! Glitchreads is acting up again. Not even surprised at this point lol."Yes Hanna, the latest of GlitchReads xD. Thought it would resolve during the day but nothing has happened yet. So sad, dunno if it'll ever come back, and it was a really cool feature I used almost everyday :*(
Goodreads is acting up a lot these days. I am worried one day my ratings and reviews will disappear. I used to write the names of the books and what they are about in a notebook, but since becoming a member here, stopped doing that. Maybe i should start again.
Helga, I agree that GR is dodgy these days. Today, my feed seems to be sponsored by Stephen King! Literally every person on here is reviewing a Stephen King book which seems fishy to me! I worry that some reviews and ratings disappear too. All a bit suspect!

Yesterday I opened a Word document and copy pasted all my reviews there, just to be safe. Sadly it's like you never know now :/. There is also an option to download all your data in Account Settings; it might be easier that way, but the way GR is acting up these days I was afraid to use it!

I don't think it'll get that bad really. I imagine at worst one or two reviews might disappear; and to some, not everyone, and only because of specific books like The Guest List, or a few others. Still, never hurts to be safe with a backup :p

I've discovered a workaround to still use the feature, although it takes considerably longer, is messier and not as complete. If you actually click "Recommend it to a friend!" it will take you to a list with all your friends to tick and recommend the book, but the ones that have already read it are greyed out so you can't select them. And under the name it displays a small tag saying, "marked as read", "marked as to read" or sth similar. If you click on that tag it'll take you directly to their reviews. Of course doing it this way is a lot trickier since you have to go through each page hunting each one instead of having them all neatly displayed in a list. Also don't know what happens if the book is shelved under a different tag. And not all friends are displayed there since it only shows a max of 25 pages with 100 friends each, getting a total max display of 2.500 friends. The account friends list also has a similar limitation, only showing 100 pages of 30 friends each, with a total max display of 3.000 friends. Oh well, something to work with for the time being :p

Now i am following the discussion. Before, i didn't have to manually tick the notify me thingy. I was automatically being notified. Weird! haha
Helga wrote: "Now i am following the discussion. Before, i didn't have to manually tick the notify me thingy. I was automatically being notified. Weird! haha..."I think it's different when you comment statuses and reviews. Often the tick is also different when I comment a review directly on the Feed, the Friends profile or the Review Itself. I don't even know how the stuff works on the app since it doesn't even let me see the ticks xD. Sometimes the tick is reversed between 'Update Feed' and 'Notify me', depending on which of those instances you are trying to use to comment. Also different the ticks and updates if you are commenting a 'review', a 'progress status', a 'want to read' and/or whatnot. My gosh! GlitchReads is one HUGE quirky mess LOL.

Everyone should have a back-up somehow or somewhere. I write all my reviews in Google docs before posting them, and my back-up catalog is on LibraryThing.

Oops! My bad! I thought it is the same as when commenting on reviews!
I usually use my laptop, but on the phone i can't use many features. Like i can't reply directly to a person or click on their photo or on to see who liked my review. Maybe it's because my phone is ancient? I don't know! lol

This bug continues, but I see it's inconsistent. The page for The Hunger Games shows 27 reviews from friends and following, but all the others I looked at show no reviews from friends and following. I just reported and encourage others to as well, as the more reports they get the more likely they are to give the bug priority. Use the Contact Us form:
https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...
Weird, none of the three Hunger Games books show me any friend's reviews. Sincerely hope the bug reports work Caroline! But after submitting many over the years I've long lost all faith in them.
Federico wrote: "Weird, none of the three Hunger Games books show me any friend's reviews. Sincerely hope the bug reports work Caroline! But after submitting many over the years I've long lost all faith in them."Weird. This is a bad bug. Thanks for the work-around, at least.
I've had some luck using the Contact Us form, but I think it comes down to whether they're CAPABLE of fixing something. If they are, they do it promptly, but if they're not, they give a canned response and eventually just stop responding to their conversation with you (even though they encouraged it by saying something like, "If you have further questions, please feel free to ask"). Really unprofessional. :[
Federico wrote: "Weird, none of the three Hunger Games books show me any friend's reviews. Sincerely hope the bug reports work Caroline! It has become annoying, because i want to see my friend's ratings for a book i read and i can't! Ugh.
Caroline wrote: "Weird. This is a bad bug. Thanks for the work-around, at least...."You are welcome! Hope it helps :) ! Sadly this looks to me like one of those bugs that would require some serious coding overhaul. Like when they introduced the new book page, which I've come to appreciate plenty because of that 'Friends Reviews' feature and a few other things. I hate to be a pessimist but it's been four/five days already? Doubt this will be fixed any time soon, if it's fixed at all. It's GlitchReads, I'm so happy when it works! But when it doesn't, I need to move on xD
