11-year-old Thomas Derwent is moving. He finds out something amazing about himself and his father. They are from the planet Ormingat. They live in England on Earth -sent here for a research project -Thomas has had to keep a journal, for 5 years, of every day of his life. He doesn't want to leave. Stella, an Earth person, has taken care of them. She is like a mother to them both. She knows something is wrong.
