Picked this up yesterday on a whim from the library. I have not read the first in the sequence. Bit too much research-showing off so far. the author clearly knows his WWII stuff, but needs the characters to speak as real people rather than mouthpieces for him to demonstrate the fruits of his research and knowledge (which is clearly amazing), but I want a story, not a lesson.

This has really improved. I now like the action and the realism - the info/look at how much research I have done, aren't I clever? dumping has stopped.
