Ehhh okay. Bit light on detail, but it's a quick read. Also, it seems to view every anti-CCP protest as left wing, but surely there's a 'right' in China that isn't just business and CCP politicians?

David One of the biggest problems with leftist critiques of the CCP is just what you've noted imo, every critique of the CCP is cast as the potential for a next revolution without stopping to consider the reactionary alternatives.

T Completely agree, I think Rebecca E. Karl is better on this, but she still suffers from many of the same issues. There is certainly a misplaced hope or anachronism at play in both thinkers. I'm not well versed in this issue at all, but I think I'll try the academic journals going forward
