This is the most complicated, convoluted and long first chapter I’ve read in my life. Wtf?

So many women flashing their bosoms at this laird. It’s a running theme.

Sarah Mac …Rhedyn? Why not Rae, or Rhea. 🙄 The names some romance writers foist upon their ladies…good grief.

Also, that guy is nowhere near ruggedly badass enough to be a laird. He looks like Loki in a kilt. 🤮

Kristina I was thinking about our name convo when listening to this, like what? Her sister’s name is worse and unpronounceable and I was LISTENING to it.
And you read my mind with skimpy chest on the cover. My next update was going to be about how he isn’t brawny enough to be the guy in the book. He is described as massive and muscular, this give gives jogger vibes…do you even lift, bro?

message 3: by Sarah Mac (new)

Sarah Mac I thought he looked wimpy in the chest too. Seriously, you couldn’t find a better stock photo of ‘rugged muscular highlander hero’ for your cover?

The weird—sorry, UNIQUE 🙄—heroine naming is out of control. Is the sister the heroine of another book? I want to see this monicker.

Kristina Probably. Im bailing on this book though so I’ll never read hers. This books is incredibly bad. Lol

Sarah Mac I looked at all the covers for this series & was disappointed in all of them. The guy on #2 is well built but doesn’t look like a highlander; the others don’t even strike my fancy for romance cover physique. Zzzz.

Kristina Highlander books need the cover guy to be particularly brawny. These are warriors with broadswords. The readers are in it for the muscles. 🤣

message 7: by Sarah Mac (new)

Sarah Mac Right?? And not just any broadswords, because those Claymores were huge beasts. The heroes gotta be hardcore to wield those things with sexy skill. 😈

Kristina Yup… these are barbarian fantasy stories. We don’t want no drawing room lord bodies, give me a man chiseled out of granite! 🤣
At least tim Campbell is doing the narration, but he can’t help that the story is bad. We get POVs from unnamed characters in this, UNNAMED! Why?

message 9: by Sarah Mac (new)

Sarah Mac Unnamed POV characters in a highlander romance? Wtf. The genre isn’t made for literary devices like that. It’s about sexy granite-hewn alphas in kilts. If I wanted unnamed POVs I’d read a thriller or a gothic. 😶

Kristina Precisely. I’m not here for the literary mastery.

Sarah Mac Kilted Loki will be so disappointed to have failed you.
