Fyall is clearly a gifted writer and a clear thinker. I’m not convinced that Job is the receptor text of Ugarit and ANE myth (rather than the other way around). But I appreciated Fyall’s engagement with the Ugaritic sources and archaeological data.

Interesting literary observations, and deep (thought not always convincing) engagement with ANE parallels.

Fyall maintains that the heavenly court is the framework context of all other themes and theological development in Job. Job is about restoring fellowship with (seeing) God more fundamentally than it is about suffering. The court of heaven is the key to how Job ‘fits into’ the canon.
