When I was struggling with substance abuse my mom begged me to read this book and I stubbornly denied thinking it would be stupid. Now that I am sober I decided to read it and it is so touching and heartbreaking, and I understand how my mom felt watching me the way David watches Nic struggle. I’m eager to read the rest!
