I was scanning for quotes and reread several large sections bc this book is très bon:
“Sacredieu, you are good!" Nardi proclaimed the one thing he was sure of in the midst of this disconcerting muddle: "Tu es douce et bonne jusqu’au fond de- that is, euh, you are sweet and good to the center of your soul, Hannah, and I adore this about you.”[. . .] Emotion, earnestness itself was robbing him of English words.

4th read (group read)! this book - as with all books by Judy - get better with multiple rereads. it is my personal theory that Black Silk, Bliss and Dance are thematically connected - specifically art and eroticism.
